Seinfeld, Before There Was Seinfeld

It’s hard to remember a time when Jerry Seinfeld wasn’t a star, but he remembers. Before he was the star of the smash hit sitcom Seinfeld, and before he enjoyed a successful stand-up career that eventually landed him that gig, he was just a regular, sugar-addled kid from Long Island. In his new Netflix special, Jerry Before Seinfeld, Seinfeld goes back to his roots, exploring not just the early days of his stand-up career, but the earliest, most formative years of his life in general. The special isn’t your typical comedy fare; in between jokes (some new, some of the older bits that helped put him on the map), the hour-long special will contain home videos of Seinfeld as a child, clips of him talking with famous friends about their early years in show business and glimpses at decades-old legal pads that contain some of Seinfeld’s oldest material and provide an idea of how the comic’s creative process works.
The special is, in essence, a mini-documentary about how Jerry Seinfeld became the Jerry Seinfeld. Due out on Netflix on September 19th, the first official trailer for the special has just been released, and now you can check it out for yourself.
