Charity Hoops Will Put Gary Gulman, Krystyna Hutchinson and Andrew Schultz on the Court for Charity at the NYCF

New York Comedy Festival is underway! This year’s lineup features some of the biggest names in comedy including Norm MacDonald, Jenny Slate, Trevor Noah, Nick Kroll, Nate Bargatze, Kathleen Madigan and Stephen Colbert.

The one hundred plus shows happening throughout the week will showcase over two hundred comedians in all five boroughs. One event that promises to deliver as much action as laughs is a charity basketball game featuring comedians and comedy industry pros.

NYCF Hoop Dreams features Team New York taking on Team World this Sunday afternoon (Nov 10) at Baruch College on Lexington. The event is presented by Comedy Records who’ve hosted games in the past at Just For Laughs and JFL 42. For this Sunday’s affair the label has teamed up with their good friends at New York Comedy Club.

“We’re really excited to bring Hoop Dreams to New York Comedy Festival,” explains Comedy Records Managing Partner, Barry Taylor. “Including New York Comedy Club as co-producer was an easy decision. They’re like family to us. Plus a lot of their staff are Knicks fans so it feels good to show them that basketball can still be fun.”

The game will feature the likes of Gary Gulman, Krystyna Hutchinson and Andrew Schultz as well as industry professionals Katie Edwards (APA), Carolyn Gitomer (Carolines) and Aaron Hodges (You Lucky Dog Productions).

Comedian James Mattern will sit courtside throughout the game and call the action. The self-proclaimed Sports Journalist has done commentary for charity hoop games in the past and is looking forward to the competition. “Much like my role models, Jesse Ventura, Bobby Heenan and Lawernce Taylor I will call the game with great integrity,” says Mattern. “But I will call people out if they deserve it.”

Comedy and basketball fans are encouraged to come check out the game. Tip off happens at 1PM. All proceeds from the event will benefit Urban Dove, a New York based organization that uses the core values of Teamwork, Leadership and Communication to help at-risk youth develop the critical life, job and academic skills they need to graduate high school, succeed in college and build careers. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased here.

Full lineups for Team New York and Team World will be announced soon via posts from @ComedyRecords and @NewYorkComedy. For complete details on the festival check out NYComedyFestival.com
