CBS is going back 60 years for its May television sweeps idea. The network will air newly colorized episodes of “I Love Lucy” at the end of May after some of its regularly scheduled shows have aired their season finales. The episodes will be run with color, but according to CBS “with a vintage look”. The “Lucy” shows chosen are classic episodes including “L.A. At Last!” where Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel make it to Hollywood and meet guest star William Holden. The other is “Lucy And Superman” featuring guest star George Reeves who played television’s Man of Steel in the 50s.

This isn’t the first time CBS has brought back classic “I Love Lucy” episodes. The network colorized two episodes of the comedy during the 2013 holiday season for “The I Love Lucy Christmas Special” featuring the rarely seen Christmas Episode, and the beloved “Lucy’s Italian Movie”, one where she stomps the grapes. According to Deadline, the Christmas special was a ratings hit for CBS.

“I Love Lucy” is back for sweeps month, airing Sunday, May 17th at 8pm et on CBS.
