Just For Laughs Montreal Adds More Big Names! Carrie Fisher, Sarah Silverman and more!

The Just For Laughs Festival continues to roll out the biggest names in comedy. Pop culture icon, author, and actress Carrie Fisher will host a multi-comic gala in Montreal this year on July 31st, which should be one of the most interesting nights of the festival. Fisher is not only renowned for her multi movie portrayal of one of the most well known characters in film history, she also created and starred in a critically beloved one woman show on stage and for HBO, wrote the bestseller Postcards from the Edge and so much more.

Sarah Silverman will return to Just for Laughs, and as one of the biggest comedy stars in the country. She’ll be performing for one night only, on July 30th. George Wallace is a comedy veteran who recently returned to touring after a ten year run in Vegas. He’s back at Just for Laughs this year, hosting a showcase of the best unrepresented, up and coming stand up comedians on July 28th, as he hosts a festival favorite, New Faces: Unrepped. Dan Harmon, creator of Community and now Rick & Morty will perform Harmontown Live on July 30th. The documentary Harmontown chronicled his 20 city standup/podcast tour, and now he’s bringing all of that to Montreal on July 30th.

Industry leader and comedy super agent Barry Katz will be hosting appropriately enough, the Industry Standard podcast, described as a one-of-a-kind insider look at Hollywood through the eyes of a comedy manager/producer. The live taping of the podcast takes place July 29.

Just for Laughs offshoot OFF-JFL has also added a third Louie Anderson show- why? Because he’s one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time. Brad Williams who was a huge hit at Moontower this year, and received four standing ovations at last summer’s Just for Laughs festival will be back. He’ll bring his show to Montreal on July 28-30, and he’s also in the Nasty Show this year. Iliza Shlesinger is bringing two solo shows, a live podcast and a Girls Night show. And Finesse Mitchell hosts The Masters series.
