Carjackings On The Rise In Newark Area

There have been 475 carjackings in Essex County as of Friday, the vast majority of those in Newark. That’s up from 345 last year. It includes the December 15th carjacking, when a lawyer was shot and killed as he struggled with 4 men stealing his Range Rover in the parking garage of the Mall at Short Hills, a retail center in Millburn, N.J.
