California Judge Joins the Todd Akin Club

Orange County Judge Derek Johnson has just gotten himself into some wonderfully deep shit. While ruling on a rape case, he had this to say:

‘I’m not a gynecologist, but I can tell you something, if someone doesn’t want to have sexual intercourse, the body shuts down. The body will not permit that to happen unless a lot of damage in inflicted, and we heard nothing about that in this case.

‘That tells me that the victim in this case, although she wasn’t necessarily willing, she didn’t put up a fight.’

And because of this logic, he took 10 years off the rapists sentence, reducing it to 6 years. Another fun fact about the case? The man threatened to mutilate the genitals and face of his ex girlfriend before raping her. The judge has been publicly admonished and since apologized for his comments, proving he’s just a superb human being.
