Bob Saget is coming back to Broadway!

The stand up comedy and tv icon is going to be taking over the role of ‘Pastor Greg’ in the Tony nominated comedy “Hand to God.” Saget takes over for Marc Kudish who originated the role starting November 3, 2015 and will remain in the role until the show closes just after New Years Day. Saget joins castmembers Steven Boyer, Geneva Carr, Sarah Stiles, and Michael Oberholtze.

“I’ve been wanting so much to come back to Broadway, especially if the material was just too good to resist. After seeing Hand to God with my daughters, I knew immediately that I’d pounce at the opportunity to be a part of it if I could,” Saget said in a statement. “Didn’t see it coming but beyond delighted. So looking forward to getting onstage with this miraculous cast in this incredibly funny and poignant play.”

Hand to God has been nominated for five Tonys, and opened last April to rave reviews. It’s been described as a both hilarious and heartbreaking story about a shy teenager who is surprised when his Bible School Project– a sock puppet named Tyron–  takes on his own personality.

Saget is a Grammy nominated stand up comic, actor, director and television host who is most famous for his roles as Danny Tanner on Full House and later as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. But those who know him beyond his network television persona know him for his far less family friendly stand up comedy and musical comedy performances. He’s also appeared in the movie The Aristocrats and on Entourage. Saget’s new book Dirty Daddy became a New York Times best seller in 2014, and his 2014 stand up special That’s What I’m Talkin’ About was nominated for a Grammy award. You will  also be able to see Saget in the Netflix series Fuller House in 2016.

Saget first appeared on Broadway in 2007 in the Tony® winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone. He also starred in a critically acclaimed off broadway play, Privilege in 2005.

Hand to God plays at the Booth Theatre through January 3, 2016.
