This Friday April 1, SiriusXM will air the world premiere of an uncut original performance, Bill Hicks Rant in E-Minor: Variations on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats Channel
As part of the special event, Ron Bennington will host Bill Hicks: A Life in Comedy, an hour special featuring some of today’s most important and admired comedians talking about why Bill Hicks was so important to comedy. Dave Attell, Ron White, Judah Friedlander, Margaret Cho, Tom Rhodes, Bob Saget, Barry Crimmins, Eddie Pepitone, Paul Provenza, Carrot Top, and of course, Ron Bennington will share their thoughts about what made the comedy of Bill Hicks so enduring, and what made him such an inspirational performer.
Bill Hicks was, and remains one of the world’s most profound comedians, and one of the funniest. Hicks died after a battle with cancer at the age of 32 in 1994 but continues to be a part of the daily conversation in comedy, and his material is as relevant as ever. Over the course of the hour, you’ll hear why Hicks remains a comic’s comic- the performer that inspires today’s greatest artists. His anger, his righteousness, his humanity, and his kindness are all discussed by those who knew and loved him. You’ll hear about the mythology of Bill Hicks, and real man behind that mythology.
Margaret Cho opened for him, Dave Attell met him 3 times, hung out with him and saw him live, Barry Crimmins talked to him the night of his infamous censored Letterman appearance, and everyone learned from him.
The two hour event kicks off at 3pm on Friday April 1st on SiriusXM Comedy Greats, and will replay on Comedy Greats on April 1 at 8pm and Saturday April 2nd at 12 noon. You can also hear the full two hour event on SiriusXM’s Raw Dog Channel on Saturday April 2nd at 11pm, Sunday April 3rd at 11am, and Monday April 4th at 9am. All times are ET.
You will be able to purchase the special “Bill Hicks Rant in eMinor: Variations” on Amazon, iTunes, and wherever audio is sold on August 15. Preorders available now.
