Bill Burr fans have something new to get excited for. An all new animated series based on Burr’s comedy, and his childhood, is coming exclusively to Netflix in 2015.
Bill Burr will voice family dad Frank Murphy in the upcoming series, F is for Family. Set in the 70’s, the show will follow the Murphy Family during a time when you could smack your kids and smoke indoors, and airports weren’t such a scary place. Joining Burr will be Laura Dern, who voices Frank’s wife Sue, and Justin Long as their oldest son Kevin.
Netflix Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland said that Burr’s stand up specials do incredibly well worldwide on the Netflix platform. “We’re looking forward to presenting his nostalgic and unflinching take on the family comedy in this original, animated series,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.
Bill Burr known primarily for his smart and hysterical stand up performances also has his own podcast, has hosted radio on SiriusXM and has been a frequent guest in the past on SiriusXM’s Opie and Anthony Show. He’s also appeared in movies like Date Night, The Heat, Stand Up Guys, Walk of Shame, and his television role in the critically-acclaimed series Breaking Bad. His newest original stand-up special I’m Sorry You Feel That Way will premiere Friday, December 5 exclusively on Netflix.
Netflix is becoming a major player in providing original comedy content, with a number of big announcements this year involving Adam Sandler, Chelsea Handler, Judd Apatow, Chelsea Peretti, Bill Cosby, and more.
The show will be animated by Gaumont International Television.
