The Bennington Show once again proved that they make the most creative uses of social media with a first, and this time The Interrobang was involved.

The Bennington show broadcasts live on SiriusXM daily from noon to three, but yesterday they broadcast the entire first hour of their show from outside on the sidewalk, using nothing but a cell phone and Periscope to communicate with their studio.  The hour was broadcast via The Interrobang’s Periscope Account.  A producer in studio then transmitted the Periscope feed via satellite and the SiriusXM internet app to their regular listeners.

This makes Bennington the first media outlet to broadcast a professional live remote through Periscope using no other equipment. Plenty of outlets have simulcast their broadcasts on Periscope but Bennington was the first to use Periscope to exclusively capture their Broadcast. The ability to use Periscope in place of professional broadcast equipment to do remote broadcasts demonstrate a whole new use for the platform.

Producer Chris Stanley hosts a weekly show Smoking With Chris, at 10:45 on Fridays, which has already grown to include various side shows, like Scope Talk Live, and where Stanley sits down with Ron Bennington and Gail Bennington to talk about what Periscope shows they’ve been watching, and 420 with Chris.  Stanley coined the term #ScopeBros for fans and friends who share broadcasts via the app, and has been recognized by vice.com for his creative scoping.  Joe Engelbrekt and Dan Perlman are also developing their own shows for The Interrobang Periscope.

The Bennington Show has been recognized for creative use of social media in the past, particularly for their use of creative hashtagging.
