Australian Podcast Network Features Aussie Perspective and Lots of Laughs

Planet Broadcasting is a fresh, shiny podcasting network committed to bringing the ever eager listening public a range of high quality shows, ranging from comedy to in-depth journalism. Think Earwolf or Nerdist with an Australian perspective and accent.

Planet Broadcasting grew from James Clement’s Mr Sunday Movies, a YouTube hit that became a podcast with over 250,000 downloads a week. Wanting to spread the love, James and his partner Claire built a network to showcase the amazing content Australians are making to the world; and now Planet Broadcasting is ready to expand beyond the southern hemisphere and share news, views and of course, a massive quantity of comedy. Check out some of the great podcasts being offered:

Aunty Donna are an award winning sketch comedy group that have risen from YouTube, made fantastic live shows, gotten onto Australian Television and now want to take over the known world. You can’t stop them, so join them instead, and their anarchic podcast is the ideal place to get to know some very wild, yet strangely comforting, comedy geniuses.

Josh Earl is an Australian TV favourite and comedy stalwart who’s the ultimate insider: he has his name on every door and knows everyone. Don’t You Know Who I Am, Josh’s successful chat podcast has the relaxed air of a group of friends swapping stories, but is in fact a who’s who of Australian Comedy and music, and is filled with amazing moments as these people meet each other for the first time on stage.

Dragon Friends shouldn’t have worked, but it does: the show follows three comedians as they play their first Dungeons and Dragons campaign. It began as a humble once-a-month podcast, then mutated before our very eyes into a sell-out live show that is now in its third season. Orcs, dragons and saving throws are all part of it, but it’s the chaotic improvised wit that keeps it flowing – Dragon Friends really is magic: nerdy, hilarious magic.

Steele Wars is a great big Star Wars love-fest, driven by one of this planet’s biggest Star Wars fans, Steele Saunders. Steele knows a lot about one of the most massive movie franchises ever, but where he’s different is that he invites everyone to join him. Each week, Steele finds someone to talk to about some aspect of Star Wars and somehow, no matter how obscure, an amazing show emerges that’s great listening for hardcore fans and complete Star Wars Newbies.

Do Go On‘s simple premise is that each show, one of the three hosts researches something they consider interesting and reports back to group. It’s a great idea for a show that allows for a whole lot of interesting – and factual – banter from its three hosts, David Warneke, Matt Stewart and Jess Perkins. Do Go On has a huge audience in the US already, and it’s no surprise with the combination of host chemistry and stranger than fiction information each episode features.
