Amy Schumer Will Open for Madonna
Amy Schumer will open for Madonna when her “Rebel Heart” tour comes to New York this fall. It’s a big move for Schumer who will have her first arena performances at Madison Square Garden and the Barclay Center as part of the deal. Seems like a score for Madonna too, grabbing Schumer who has been exploding across the pop culture scene all year. Her hit Comedy Central Show “Inside Amy Schumer” is getting critical raves, she hosted the 2015 MTV movie awards, taped a special at the infamous Apollo Theater, is doing a whirlwind 8 day national tour this week, and has a movie coming out that is getting nothing but love from anyone who has seen it.
Schumer tweeted the announcement earlier today saying “Guess who auditioned for @Madonna and got the part? See you in NYC on Sept 16, 17 and 19?″ and including a video of an early childhood video of Schumer performing her rendition of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.”

Look for Amy Schumer and Madonna to pair up at Madison Square Garden on September 16th and 17th and at the Barclay Center on September 19th. No word on whether the two will interact on stage, but we’re putting early money on an onstage kiss at the least. Earlier this year Madonna announced that she had an interest in performing comedy, and performed a stand up set on The Tonight Show. Reviews were rough, but with Amy as her coach, anything is possible.
