Amy Schumer and Chuck Schumer have teamed up and announced a plan for gun control. The Schumers appeared at a press conference this morning in Manhattan to announce their three point plan. The slogan is “Enough is Enough.”

“These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence, but I promise you they will not be my last,” Amy said. Schumer added she was devastated by the July shooting that killed three during a screening of her movie Trainwreck in Louisiana. She hopes her high profile will assist in getting the measure through Congress.

“We’ll never know why people choose to do these painful things, but sadly we always find out how — how the shooter got their gun and it’s often something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place,” she explained. “And today’s push makes so much sense because it seeks to address the how,” CBS News reported.

“The critics scoff and say, ‘Well, there’s no way to stop crazy people from doing crazy things,’ but they’re wrong. There is a way to stop them,” Amy said. “Preventing dangerous people from getting guns is very possible, we have common sense solutions.”

According to Deadline, the Senator proposed legislation will provide monetary rewards to states that provide “comprehensive information into background check records” and penalize states that don’t. The Schumers are also seeking “greater mental health and drug abuse program funding from Congress” and are looking to the Department of Justice for “insight and recommendations on how states deal with “involuntary mental health commitments.”
