Amy Schumer Joins the Hulu Roster With New Comedy Series

It’s been three years since Inside Amy Schumer ended its run on Comedy Central without warning (although IAS had been picked up for fifth season, it never aired and was never cancelled). The television show launched Schumer as a comedy star but then Judd Apatow helped elevate the comedian to superstar status with the movie Trainwreck and she hasn’t returned to steady television work since. How could she- she was busy starring in movies, touring, putting out specials, getting married, having a baby and being a media darling.
But Friday Hulu announced that Schumer is back in the episodic business, and she’s bringing a brand new comedy series to the platform. The network ordered 10 episodes of a half hour comedy series created by Schumer. She’s not only the creator of the series titled Love Beth, she’s also directing, writing, executive producing and starring in the show.
Schumer signed a first look deal with Hulu and this will be the first project under the deal. The series will air in 2020.
Hulu is expanding its original comedy slate and its relationship with Amy Schumer, ordering 10 episodes of Love, Beth, a half-hour comedy series created, directed, written, executive produced by and starring Schumer, from Endeavor Content. The project is the first for Schumer under her just-signed first-look deal with the streaming network.
