Abolition of Slavery? Yeah, Mississippi Finally Got Around To That

mississippiFollowing the Civil War in 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified which banned slavery in the United States. Although Delaware waited until the turn of the century, and Kentucky finally relented during the Bicentennial, Mississippi was the last state to ratify until a few weeks ago. But instead of being a Negative Nellie, give them credit; they actually voted to ratify back in 1995, but someone forgot to mail the proper form to the Office of the Federal Register until now.
