A New Update on Baby Lana

. . .
In June of this year, Bryan touched us all by posting in our UNFILTERED section about his daughter Lana, who was born with a serious heart condition. Despite all of the hard times he and his family have gone through, Bryan posted to let us know how thankful he is for the people at the Ronald McDonald house at the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. He wrote us again in July to update us. Today he sent us a new update on Lana’s condition. Please join us in sending Bryan and his family love and good wishes.

Ron, Fez and all Fans and Friends,
I figured I’d take some time and give an update on my little girl Lana. Excuse me if I get a little long winded I just hope maybe our story will help anyone who has to go through something like this.
Lana is now 120 days old! I wish I could write this with better news, but unfortunately I can not. Lana is still on a heart transplant list, but has been moved to a status 7 for quite some time now. Status 7 means they are not actively looking for a heart for her, but she doesn’t lose her time on the list. It’s basically a place holder until she is well enough for transplant. She continues to leak fluid out of her capillaries at an alarming rate. We have also started to have to deal with infection. Babies in the condition that Lana is in have two things the doctors are very concerned about. Cardiac arrest being one and infection being the other. Our docs met with us a few weeks ago and told us Lana is to sick to be treated if she arrests, and are surprised infection has not taken her from us yet. While these doctors are crazy smart and some of the best in their field it’s hard to take the news that the chance of survival for your child is minimal. She has fought her whole life but has grown tired and we see it in her more in each passing day. We keep our hopes up that she will turn that corner but we too are starting to show signs of wear. We have met people who have left here with their children and our hearts are filled with joy for them. We have also met plenty who have not, and it adds to the heart break we feel for our child. We find a way to push on! We have know choice. Our baby continues to beat odds every day she is still alive, and we will be in her corner cheering her on.
My girl writes in a journal most days and usually ends them with a quote. I’d like to share one to end this update. It has touched me and keeps me positive. Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, and positive energy.
Peace,
Bryan

Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
