This Friday, comedy legend Wayne Federman debuts The Chronicles of Federman on aspecialthing Records. This special release is 30 years in the making.

The three discs in this set are from recordings from 1984-2014 and document Wayne’s journey from the New York comedy clubs of the 80s, to Los Angeles alt rooms in the 90s, to theaters around the world in the 2000s. It’s a fascinating listen to the evolution of one comedian as well as a journey through some of the hottest American stand-up scenes over the last 30 years.

One of Wayne’s biggest fans, Judd Apatow, wrote the extensive liner notes. “Wayne has made massive amounts of people laugh over the last thirty years. We are all so lucky when we get to spend any time with Wayne Federman,” he said, adding ““Every time I have seen him on stage he has been pure joy to watch. His observational humor is unique and insightful, plus he is a fine musician who has written inspired jokes for the piano and the ukulele. There is nothing predictable about his act… He’s whimsical and super weird in the best way.”

Federman was the head monologue writer for NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon over its first year, and is also known for appearances in The X-Files, Community, The Larry Sanders Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Funny People, Knocked Up, Fifty First Dates, Legally Blonde, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Step Brothers.
