Nora Ephron (1941-2012)
Prolific writer, director, journalist, humorist, producer and all-around extraordinary woman Nora Ephron passed away yesterday after fighting leukemia. Known by her fans for her deeply personal and witty essays and novels. Known to everyone for screenwriting romantic comedies like “When Harry Met Sally” , “You’ve Got Mail”, “Julie and Julia” and “Silkwood.” Three of her films were nominated for Academy Awards. She will be remembered for her keen self awareness and an ability to be critical (both of herself and others) and honest with a sharp sense of humor. In 2010 in “I Remember Nothing” she wrote:
“If you really want to do them, you better do them. There are simply too many people getting sick, and sooner or later you will. So I’m very much a believer in knowing what it is that you love doing so you can do a great deal of it.”
“I Remember Nothing” had a list of things she will miss and a list of things she will not miss. You can read those here.
