Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: April 29, 2017

Saturday Night Live’s famous stage is quiet again tonight- the cast has another week off, but you can still enjoy comedy on NBC tonight, because they’ll be running a repeat episode from earlier this season. The episode, which originally aired January 21, 2017, was hosted by Aziz Ansari, and marked Ansari’s SNL hosting debut. It may have been his first time heading up the Saturday Night Live team, but Ansari had plenty of sketch experience prior to that night- he hails from the Upright Citizens Brigade, so he knows what he’s doing in sketch comedy, and he is one of stand up comedy’s biggest touring headliners, which of course helps when putting together a great monologue.
Politics are in focus this week, with a politically themed monologue from Ansari, that addressed racism and Islamophobia. No Baldwin on this episode, even though it originally ran just days after Inauguration Day; instead you’ll enjoy a Putin-themed cold open starring Beck Bennett, talking about the inauguration.
The highlight of the episode is an ad parody sketch about a law firm starring Ansari as a client who slowly realized he got a bad deal. Kate McKinnon appears as the firm’s star attorney, with Bobby Moynihan as the less stellar litigator who represented Aziz. Also, keep your eye open for a great dirty talk sketch between Ansari and freshman cast member Melissa Villaseñor, and Kate McKinnon shares in a musical short as Kellyanne Conway that compares the election to the musical Chicago.
Tbere are also fails and noble fails. A bookworm sketch is the former, but don’t fast forward through a Chuck E. Cheese’s sketch about an animatronic band. Yes, it’s a bad sketch, but keep your eye on Moynihan on the drums.
Musical guest Big Sean makes the scene. Saturday Night Live will return LIVE on May 6th with guest host Chris Pine and musical guest LCD Soundsystem.
