Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live: December 31, 2016

One thing you can count on every Saturday night is that you will be able to watch Lorne Michael’s Saturday Night Live in some form or another- live, repeat, or special. And that’s true even on New Year’s Eve– sort of. Tonight, of course there will be no SNL, at it’s regular time– NBC is airing Carson Daly’s LIVE New Year’s Eve from Times Square. But if you’re patient, you can still catch the show at 12:30 after the confetti has all hit the pavement.
At 12:30, NBC is planning to re-air the highest episode rated of the season- the one hosted by Dave Chappelle. One of the best episodes of this season, it opened with a tribute to Leonard Cohen, and proceeded to spend most of the night reacting to the election which had happened only days before.
Chappelle delivers a strong eleven minute monologue/set and covers the election, gun violence, race and gentrification. Chris Rock makes a guest appearance in a strong politically funny sketch about what went down in apartments all across New York on election night, and there were plenty of nods to the old Chappelle Show throughout the evening.
For anyone not quite ready to time travel back to election night just yet….sit this one out.
Happy New Year! Two weeks till SNL returns live!
