LGBTQIA2 Advocate Kathy Griffin Speaks About Gay Marriage Decision

kathy griffin

Spoiler alert.  She likes it!  Lesson of the day, the extended acronym means Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and Allied.  Griffin’s been an ally and outspoken advocate of LGBTQIA2 rights for as long as she can remember, going back to days when she would go door to door advocating for gay rights. She was in Tulsa Oklahoma yesterday, getting ready to do a gig yesterday when her phone blew up with the news about the historic Supreme Court decision.   In an interview with Tulsa’s own News on 6, she talked about why the Supreme Court’s decision on gay marriage is a victory for everyone.

This is the right side of history, she said.

“What Americans are realizing is this is not at all just a gay issue, this is an equality issue.  And this is a group that is disenfranchised.” She added, “This is real progress that we’re looking at.  We’re all in this together, we’re all equal, we’re all people.  United we stand, divided we fall, and today I feel like as American’s we’re all a little bit more united. ”

Griffin is ordained, and recently presided at a gay wedding for one of her high school sweetheart.
