Chris Rock to Direct Amy Schumer Special at the Apollo for HBO
“Schumermania!” is running wild!! Somehow Amy Schumer’s amazing year just got even better. President of HBO, Michael Lombardo made the announcement that Amy Schumer will be doing her first ever comedy special for the premium cable network. The special will be directed by Chris Rock.
Lombardo said he hopes Amy’s HBO special is the first of many to come. He said, “Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship. This event is even more special because our good friend, the incredibly talented Chris Rock, is directing.”
Amy Schumer’s special will be taped at a legendary venue. The iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City will host Amy Schumer on Friday, May 29th as she tapes her new one hour for HBO. The special will be filmed over the course of two shows on May 29th. The first show starts at 7:30pm and the second at 10:30pm. Amy Schumer’s 2015 has included winning a Peabody Award for her Comedy Central show “Inside Amy Schumer” which is getting rave reviews during this year’s season 3, hosting the MTV Movie Awards, and the premiere of her first feature film “Trainwreck” directed by Judd Apatow, being released nationwide on July 17th.
