Roseanne Says She’s Going Blind
Roseanne sat down to talk with the Daily Beast about her new documentary about her run for the White House in 2012. She ended up talking more than just about “Roseanne For President!” which screens this week at the Tribeca Film Festival. She discussed why she is such a proponent of legalizing marijuana and her lack of support for Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
When asked by TDB, why she felt so strongly about pot, Roseanne gave two answers. The first being that it frees us from “mind control.” Next, she said that’s it’s “good medicine”. She explained her answer saying, “I have macular degeneration and glaucoma, so it’s good for me for that because I have pressure in my eyes. It’s a good medicine for a lot of things.”
Roseanne said that she doesn’t know when she will go completely blind. She said, “My vision is closing in now. It’s something weird. But there are other weird things. That one’s harsh, ’cause I read a lot, and then I thought, ‘Well, I guess I could hire somebody to read for me and read to me.’ But I like words and I like looking. You do what you have to do. I just try and enjoy vision as much as possible—y’know, living it up. My dad had it, too.”
While she is a fan of legalizing marijuana, she’s not one of Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. She said, “I think she’s a Democrat just like they all are. She seems like every other Democrat. I would not like to see her win. She’s the same old shit. I’d like to see me win. I don’t see how she can win, but it will be interesting to see how the process goes…”
Roseanne said there’s something more important to her than seeing the first woman elected to the White House. She said, “I would rather see the first intelligent, honest American president.”
