Kathy Griffin Quits E!’s “Fashion Police”

E!’s “Fashion Police” hosts are leaving faster than last season’s styles. Kathy Griffin announced in a lengthy post on Twitter that she is quitting the fashion critique series after only 7 episodes. She cited creative differences with the show’s producers. In her tweet, Kathy said she did not want to use her comedy to “contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference.”
Kathy Griffin had recently done an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times addressing the recent Giuliana Rancic controversy on the show and suggesting that she wasn’t on the same page with the show’s producers. She said, “My goal would be to bring the comedic sensibility of any show I enter or take over into a more modern way of thinking … and laughing. The show wanted to do a running segment called “Whore Score.” Um, no thanks. I think we can do better.”
The Hollywood Reporter said that E! confirmed that Kathy Griffin was leaving the show. In their statement, the entertainment network said, “We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9 p.m. with our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and executive producer Melissa Rivers.”
Kelly Osbourne announced she was leaving her hosting job on “Fashion Police” just two weeks ago. This stemmed from Giuliana Rancic’s comment during the FP Oscar broadcast that actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks probably smelled like “patchouli oil and weed.”
