The biggest mystery facing the world right now is the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. The world has become obsessed with it. Nearly 30 nations are helping in the search. New information seems to pop up everyday, but none of it is helping find the missing airliner and its passengers. Let’s review what’s fact and what’s conjecture. Here are Seven Things We Know About Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and Three Things We Don’t.

What We Know

#1 The Take Off

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport for Bejing at 12:41 am.

 

#2 The Passengers:

There were 239 people on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 including 12 crew members. Two passengers boarded the plane using stolen passports. Authorities have identified them as Pouri Nourmohammadi, 18, and Delavar Seyed Mohammad Reza, 29, both Iranians.

 

#3 The Last Words:

Someone in the cockpit of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 gives the airliner’s last verbal communication with air traffic controllers. The voice said “All right. Good Night” at 1:19 am.

 

#4 The Flight Path:

The first turn off-course towards the West, for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was done by computer. Instead of manually operating the plane’s controls, whoever altered Flight 370’s path typed seven or eight keystrokes into a computer on a knee-high pedestal between the captain and the first officer, according to officials.

 

#5 The Satellite:

Over 7 hours after take off, a satellite makes the last electronic connection with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

 

#6  The Search Area:

The area between searched for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 are according to 2 wide arcs from the plane’s last known location, one stretching north over Asia and the other south into the Indian Ocean. The area being looked at for where the plane could be is 2.97 million square miles — an area nearly the size of the continental United States.

 

#7 The Captain:

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah had a flight simulator in his home which police found some files deleted from during their investigation. He was involved in Malaysian politics and is a fan of Louis CK and Sarah Silverman.

 

What We Don’t Know

#1  Who Did It!?

Although the captain and co-pilot are being investigated, officials can’t say for sure they were the ones that disabled the plane’s transponder or altered its course mid-flight using the airliner’s computer flight management system.

#2  Who To Believe!?

Are we being told everything about this flight? India and Pakistan said there’s no way that plane got into their airspace without it being shot down. Malaysia is keeping the families in the dark with very little information trickling out. The time line has changed in some cases. The Malaysian government claims it didn’t know at first that the plane flew for another 7 hours after it lost contact. With some much speculation and so little information, who can we trust here?

#3 Where The Hell The Plane and Passengers Are!?

The plane may have been hijacked and taken to another country. It could be somewhere in the Indian Ocean or crashed over Asia. Australia is a possibility, so are India and Pakistan. There’s the theories about the airliner disintegrating in mid-air, the pilot making this a suicide flight, aliens and landing on the island from “Lost”. We just don’t know where Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is.
