Second Annual Red Nose Day This Thursday

red noses all

Walgreens is back as the exclusive US provider of the red noses that turn May 26th into Red Nose Day.

Last year Walgreens sold over 5 million red noses to raise money for families in poverty.  Linn Jordan, Director, Retail Marketing for Walgreens told us  that this year they have already doubled that amount.  Plus she said this year they’ve expanded the campaign beyond the red nose encouraging everyone to “get seriously silly” with red hats, red bowties and noses for your car among other fundraising fun merch which will remain on sale for several more weeks.

Red Nose Day began in the UK, where they’ve raised more than a billion dollars in the 25 years since the tradition began. In its first year in America, over $23 million was raised.

Craig Ferguson will be hosting this year’s Red Nose Day event on NBC. The two hour special airs Thursday May 26th at 9pm.   Jay Leno, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Ellie Kemper, Tyler Perry, Julia Roberts, Will Ferrell, Ellen DeGeneres, Jack Black, Tracy Morgan, Vince Vaughn, Sarah Silverman, Keegan-Michael Key, Jane Lynch, Jay Pharoah, Trevor Noah, Chris Hardwick, Tony Hale, Kate Micucci, Jordan Peele, Ron Funches and Ashton Kutcher are among the more than 65 stars who are coming together for the star-studded charity event, which helps raise awareness and money for kids in need here at home and around the world.  Tracy Morgan will be putting his own spin on the classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” while reading to kids,  Paul Rudd will commit more money for Red Nose Day than he ever imagined when he promises to donate $5,000 for every three-pointer that basketball superstar Blake Griffin makes in three minutes and plenty more surprises.

Red Nose Day has become a cultural phenomenon in the U.K., and raised more than $1 billion globally in the last 25 years. Red Nose Day launched in the U.S. in 2015 as a special day to come together, have fun and make a difference for kids who are most in need.

The money raised by Red Nose Day in 2016 will help support projects in some of the neediest communities in the U.S. and some of the poorest communities in the world. People from all walks of life are encouraged to get involved, have fun and raise money by buying red noses sold exclusively at Walgreens stores nationwide, organizing fundraising events and watching and donating during the television special.

Last year we helped kick off the first annual Red Nose Day by persuading our comedy friends to help spread the Red Nose Message including  , Mike Vecchione, ,Big , , , Luis J Gomez,, , , , Wyatt Cenac, , , , Bruce McCullogh, , , , , , Andrew Schultz, , , , , , , , , , , , and  and you can see some of those photos below.
