For all of its almost 20 year run, South Park has been the show most people look forward to giving its take on what’s going on in the real world. This election should be a gold mine for them. Just look at how much fun they’ve had with past elections like P. Diddy and his Vote or Die campaign, the Giant Douche vs Turd Sandwich, Obama and McCain really being in cahoots the whole time and having a giant heist plan in action and many more we all know and love.
This year, you may be wondering what is going to happen with Trump, he is pretty much a South Park character already, but Matt Stone and Trey Parker don’t really want to make an episode about him because, as they say “We were like, fuck him, we don’t want to give him the satisfaction.” Parker and Stone also said they plan on keeping the only story relating to the election being Mr. Garrison’s run for President because that is what is most important for the show. Their thought process is that Trump and Hillary are characters that can support their stories if they choose, but it is against what the show is about to make them the main focus and force their own political agenda.
No matter what, Season 20 should be another incredible year and it’s exciting to see what the show does with their new serialized format of having plots that go across a season and not just reset at the end of every episode. It’s great to see the show still remain fresh after all this time.
