Tulsa Comedy Festival Brings Eric Andre, Fortune Feimster to OK

tulsa blue whale comedy festival

The only whale indigenous to Oklahoma is new, impressively sized and returning home from September 8-11th. The Blue Whale Comedy Festival in Tulsa is only in its third year, but features headliners Eric André and Fortune Feimster this year. The beautifully designed site offers tickets exclusive to their headliners’ performances as well as weekend-wide festival passes. Certain shows will be 21+.

Host of UCB Franklin’s stand-up showcase “Put Your Hands Together” Rhea Butcher, DJ Dougpound of Tim & Eric’s Abso Lutely Productions, Brent Weinbach, founder of the cult web series “Pound House”, Ashley Barnhill (“Project Greenlight”), Julian McCullough (“Inside Amy Schumer”), Tony Hinchcliffe (“Kill Tony”, Martha Stewart’s roast writing partner) and Ian Abramson (Just for Laughs) will also perform.

Besides attending, you can get involved by submitting to perform at Blue Whale. Submissions for sketch, stand-up and improv are open until May 15th with a $30 fee. Comedy films under 25 minutes may also be submitted. Flexible volunteers are also needed for the festival to run smoothly! If you’re thinking of going, the festival is sponsored by The Aloft Downtown Tulsa and the hotel offers discounted rates to festival goers.

The young festival’s ability to pull larger names could be in part to its comedian-run advisory board. Tulsa native Josh Fadem is host of “Loosey Goosey” with Whitest Kids U’ Know alum Sam Brown (check it out at the Pack Theater!) and heads the board, with Byron Bowers (“Crossroads of History”) and comedian Maronzio Vance.

Go to bluewhalecomedyfestival.com for more information and tickets or to submit or volunteer.

The Blue Whale Comedy Festival was started with the dream of getting Tulsa on the comedy map and with this line up of up-and-coming comedians, they could very well blow up!

The most notable lies Rachel Crowe has ever told were that she has 10 children (no twins), she’s running a marathon retracing the path her ancestors took to evade the IRS and that she found childcare for 10 on a Saturday night. She’s also a stand-up comedian and dog walker living in Los Angeles. Follow Rachel on Twitter @Racheddar or on Instagram @thelma_and_disease. Or don’t, but at least appreciate those fresh hot puns.
