SXSW Comedy Announces Paul F. Tomkins, Doug Loves Movies, Broad City Before Anyone Else and More!

With a few short weeks until South by Southwest kicks off, the long-running Texas festival has finally released its comedy lineup. Eight days of offerings cross the traditional boundaries of the festival, as podcast recordings, live shows and films bring laughs to Austin.

Among the highlights from the initial lineup announcement:

  • March 8th, the comedy offerings open with James Adomian’s Elon Musk Keynote: The Frightening and Awful Future of Humanity;
  • The Daily Show News Team Live, a panel discussion featuring the full correspondent staff of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and moderated by Jake Tapper;
  • Broad City co-creators Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer will be screening the final three episodes of their now-concluding Comedy Central series;
  • Dynasty Typewriter Presents That’s Enchantertainment!, a live variety show in the spirit of the LA venue and hosted by Paul F. Tompkins;
  • Live podcast recordings of The Comedian’s Comedian, Doug Loves Movies, improv4humans, and Maltin on Movies; and
  • The world premiere of Kathy Griffin: One Hell of a Story, followed by an “in conversation” with the actress and comic about the fallout from her photo controversy. Other film offerings include Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Good Boys and Rogen and Charlize Theron’s Long Shot.

The full festival schedule and lineups (including details on other films and conference sessions) will be live soon; Comedy Festival offerings are open to all SXSW passholders and wristband holders. So if you’ll be in Austin March 8-16, make sure to head to the shows, films, and recordings!
