For Chris Tucker, it’s all about coming home.

The star of Friday and the Rush Hour franchise will headline his first full length stand-up comedy special, Chris Tucker Live, which will premiere exclusively on Netflix this summer. Filmed at the historic Fox Theater in his hometown of Atlanta during his successful 2015 tour, Tucker’s in fine form as he talks about everything from growing up in the South to life as a successful movie star and comedian. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Chris Tucker show without his dead on impersonations and classic facial expressions and his trademark on-stage high pitch vocals that has made him an international superstar. Phil Joanou, best known for his films Rattle & Hum and State Of Grace will direct.

Though he’s known for his scene stealing performances in Friday and the Rush Hour movies, Tucker make his mark on the stand-up circuit, which led to memorable appearances on HBO Def Comedy Jam. For this new special, not only does it mark a return to the stage, but a new beginning: This is his first starring vehicle that Tucker will present for his production company, Chris Tucker Entertainment and his first collaboration with Netflix. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Netflix, one of the true global leaders in entertainment, on my first comedy special,” Tucker said in a statement. “Before people started seeing me in movies, I was doing standup. It’s always been a part of me, and now I’m excited to share it with my fans around the world.”

Chris Tucker Live will be available exclusively on Netflix on July 10th.
