Melissa McCarthy’s New Comedy Gets Renewed Before It Premieres

TV Land is placing their bets on Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone’s meta-Hollywood comedy “Nobodies” by renewing the show for a 2018 season a whole two months and two weeks before its premiere. The channel’s been amping up efforts to rebrand away from just being the mecca of all reruns by producing their own original content with talent-driven projects like “The Jim Gaffigan Show”. However, this push for the single-camera is a bold vote of confidence for the Groundlings-alum-centric show.
Akin to a self-aware, probably very funny “Entourage”, three friends (Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras) making up the main characters of “Nobodies” push for their more famous friend to land a role in a script they wrote in order to create coattails for riding. The pilot features cameos by Jason Bateman, Maya Rudolph and Nat Faxon. Whether McCarthy will make an appearance remains to be seen, but seems like a no-brainer for an explosive narrative and awesome gags. “Nobodies” debuts March 29th.
