Maria Bamford Announces Lady Dynamite Date and So Does Judd Apatow, Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro and Maria’s Dad
Finally, a date with “Lady Dynamite”
Lady Dynamite has a start date. That date is May 20th and the place is Netflix. If you are a regular reader of this website, odds are you know a thing or two about comedy. If you know a thing or two about comedy, you already know who Maria Bamford is. If you know Bamford, you might know about yesterday’s celebrity twitter storm around #ladydynamite.
Maria Bamford is fun, and her Netflix series premiere announcement reminded us how much we love her. Hardcore fans have been patiently waiting six months since the series was announced to find out when they would get their chance to see their favorite front and center. They were rewarded with a Bamford-esque style quirk-fest.
Poking her own indy comedian obscurity, the comedian’s friends and guest stars of the series began tweeting “Who is Maria Bamford?” Bamford herself dubbed her own voice over a video of her father, to announce the May 20th Netflix premiere date. Friends and fans of Maria followed suit with video announcements from not only Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro and Judd Apatow but also from unknown fans all across the country.
For those not in the know, Maria Bamford is one of the country’s most original and funniest stand up performers, and the star of a hit webseries.
Produced by Bamford, Pam Brady, and Mitch Hurwitz ( creator of Arrested Development). The concept of Lady Dynamite is simple, it’s “The story of a woman who loses — and then finds — her s**t”. The thirteen episode, half hour series will be available to view in its entirety on May 20th. Mark your calendars.
