Jay Baruchel Just Directed a Movie He Wrote

Jay Baruchel is way more Canadian than he lets on. On the Tonight Show this week, the “Man Seeking Woman” star attributes his terrible ice-skating skills to “crippling laziness” but while he’s a failed hockey player, he just directed “Goon: Last of the Enforcers”, a sequel to “Goon”, which he co-wrote. Set to release in mid-March in Canada (details on US release will be discussed later), the series began in 2011 with a story about a hockey “enforcer”; a increasingly obsolete job where one teammate’s specific task is to start fights. So the Halifax Highlanders welcomes their new member, and resident goon, The Thug. Baruchel played a small role then as “Pat”, which could possibly be reprieved.

Baruchel also discussed the upcoming third season of FXX’s “Man Seeking Woman.” The “truthful, absurdist take on what it is to be single” is a non-linear, experimental romantic comedy tackling new challenges with serious committed relationships springing from less than a minute of exposition and characters blurring the line between acting as straight men and unreliable narrators. The latest season premiered January 4th and streams through the FXX site.
