All Jane Comedy Fest Kicks Off in Portland This Week

Portland, Oregon’s 5th Annual All Jane Comedy Festival kicks off October 5th and lasts until headliner Maria Bamford’s appearance on the 9th. Cushioned within those five days are performances from television and radio veterans Dulcé Sloan, Lisa Best, Maggie Maye, Debra DiGiovanni, Jackie Kashian, Page Hurwitz and all kinds of diverse talent from across the nation (and beyond!). The festival’s past guests include meteoric talents like Aparna Nancherla, Cameron Esposito, Emily Maya Mills and Phoebe Robinson.
The all-female comedy festival’s run largely takes place in the newly renovated Curious Comedy Theater, an independent comedy theater rejuvenated by a generous grant from the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission to endow the space with cutting edge lights and sound equipment. The stand-up shows will share a space with a taping of the ten-year running nerdy, popular podcast “The Dork Forest”, hosted by Jackie Kashian. The All Jane Festival credits its diverse line-up to the lack of women in all areas of the comedy industry and hopes to bridge the gap between women comedians, audiences and the decision-makers of the industry.
Festival passes are on sale now and announcements will soon follow regarding what workshops will be offered.
