The Comedian Who Changed My Life is a series where comics talk about, you guessed it, the comedian who changed their life. This week, Simon Pegg talks about why the Comedian Who Changed His Life is Robin Williams.

Hi I’m Simon Pegg and the comedian that changed my life was Robin Williams. Who appeared on the scene in the seventies in Mork and Mindy in a show that utterly blew me away as a kid. And he became my first schoolyard impression, and the guy that I wanted to emulate. Watching him and his career inspired me to know that you can be funny and also get to do great drama and be an all around superb human being I would say. It’s a great sadness that he’s gone, so in tribute to him I would like to hold him up as being my inspiration.

He co-created, wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed and hit comedy movies Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End and is considered one of the top creative forces in comedy filmmaking today. And he’s also been a big part of two blockbuster movie franchises, appearing as Scotty in the Star Trek reboot series (which has now made him a permanent part of Star Trek history),  as well as having a prominent role in the Mission Impossible films.  Pegg has three movies out this year including the Boxtrolls, and Hector and the Pursuit of Happiness, and he is currently filming Mission Impossible 5.
