Boston Calling Quietly Announces SNL Centric 2019 Lineup

Last week Boston Calling, New England’s signature music and entertainment festival, released the lineup for its landmark 10th edition. Fanfare was showered over returning music acts like Twenty One Pilots, Tame Impala, Janelle Monae, and Travis Scott, but the comedy lineup was far more quiet in its reveal.
Gone from the agenda this year are podcast recordings, after last year’s live tapings of Crooked Media offerings Lovett or Leave It and Pod Save America. Instead, organizers seem to have gone with a more conventional approach- albeit with an interesting variety of names. After having to cancel last year, Jenny Slate is among the marquee acts headlining the comedy arena. The onetime Saturday Night Live cast member joins a lineup heavy on the show’s alumni and affiliates including Melissa Villaseñor, Fred Armisen, Sam Jay (who came up in Boston’s comedy scene), and Michael Che. Marina Franklin and former Boston Comedian of the Year Lamont Price – the lone local comic on the lineup – round out the roster for a venue that, in addition to hosting these performers, will also feature a series of performances from the Boston Ballet.
Tickets for the festival, to be held once again at Harvard University’s Athletic Complex May 24-26, 2019 in Allston, MA, are on sale now at the General Admission, VIP, and Platinum levels; and the schedule for the comedy tent and all stages will be released in late spring.
