If audiences are half as excited as Mike Birbiglia is about the North American premiere of  Don’t Think Twice, then we should be creepy stoked– just drink the Kool Aid amped and then some. The Film Arcade is teaming up with actor/director/writer Mike Birbiglia and producer Ira Glass to start the theatrical release of “Don’t Think Twice” in NYC July 22nd.  This is the second project for Glass and Birbiglia with their first feature, Sleepwalk With Me decimating box office records for first-time directors. Mike Birbiglia promised he’d “be hand delivering this film across the country” and Birbiglia is coming through on his promises.

The film already had its world premiere at SXSW, but there are more screenings to come before the film officially releases in late July. Birbiglia is going on a pre-release tour for “Don’t Think Twice” and it sounds awesome; he will hit twenty American cities via tour bus, with an arsenal of experienced improv instructors in tow. Free improv workshops will be offered and pop-up screenings of the film at select cities might include an appearance from Mike himself. Even Liz Allen who coached the cast of “Don’t Think Twice” will be teaching improv on the tour. For free! As was mentioned earlier!

Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacob, Kate Micucci, Chris Gethard  and Tami Sagher (writer/producer “Girls”, writer “Inside Amy Schumer”) comprise the main cast. That alone is reason to check it out. And free improv classes? Taught by Liz Allen, improve coach to the film’s cast?! For free?!?!

The Film Arcade distributes and finances indie comedies created by ridiculously wonderful talent and their credits sound like the confections a comedy candy store would sell. They released “A.C.O.D.” starring Adam Scott, Richard Jenkins and Amy Poehler, Jill Soloway’s “Afternoon Delight” with Jane Lynch and now are one of many forces behind “Don’t Think Twice” starring Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, and Mike Birbiglia. They also supported “What’s the Point?” starring Ed Helms and Lake Bell.

You can watch those while you camp out waiting for Mike and his bus of improvisers.
