Atlanta Gets Two Big Wins At The Golden Globes

FX has one of television’s hottest comedies with Atlanta and Golden Globe Awards recognition of Atlanta was one of the big stories of the night, last night. The show took home two huge awards. Glover himself won Best Actor in a TV Comedy or Musical, beating out Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson, Mozart in the Jungle’s Gael Garcia Bernal, Graves’ Nick Nolte and Transparent’s Jeffrey Tambor. Glover gave an incredible acceptance speech which referenced his upbringing as a Jehovah’s Witness and basically telling everyone to follow their dreams.

The other big win was for Best TV Series for a Comedy or Musical and beating Black-ish, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, and Veep. This is a huge win for FX, Atlanta and Glover himself who is having a monster year. He is in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film, he’s the new Lando in the Han Solo prequel and his music career is as great as ever. Glover also wrote and directed multiple episodes of Atlanta. After years of HBO owning the comedy series award the past few years with shows like Silicon Valley and Veep, seeing Glover up there was a great moment. He also gave a shout-out to the hip hop group Migos, but “not for being in the show, but for making ‘Bad and Boujee’. That’s the best song ever.”
