Amy Schumer Announces Stand Up Comedy Arena Tour

There is no denying Amy Schumer is comedy’s “it” girl right now, deservedly so. Few people in the business are working harder than Schumer and her 2016 schedule shows no signs of the comedian slowing down. Starting April 7th, Schumer will embark on a 19 city arena tour throughout the East Coast and Midwest, ending in a Madison Square Garden performance June 23rd. The tour will coincide with the debut of season four of Inside Amy Schumer, airing on April 21st.

The tour is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. In addition to the tour, Schumer’s book, Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo will be released on August 16th. That’s a ton of stuff right? But that’s not all!  Schumer is reportedly working on a script with Jennifer Lawrence and a Fox series with her Inside Amy Schumer co writer and sister Kim Caramele.

In another move, Schumer seems to be making a statement about women in comedy by not only producing good friend Rachel Feinstein’s hour special for Comedy Central, but by titling it Amy Schumer Presents…Rachel Feinstein Schumer is helping to put to rest the notion that women in the industry are only capable of knocking each other down a notch. The title also hints that maybe that is what it is going to take in the industry.

None of the other hour long specials that were announced for April have similar titles, or give credit to another producer. Is Amy Schumer the reason the Comedy Central month of new stand up hours is 50% female? For the real comedy nerds out there we haven’t seen this in awhile. Not since Elayne Boosler, who self funded her Showtime special after network executives told her that they did not believe people would tune in to see a female do an hour of comedy. Schumer is the hardest working woman in show business right now, and she manages to make it all look fun. Catch her live and in person, tour dates below.
