Will Ferrell To Star In Film Adaptation of “The 100 Year Old Man”

Will Ferrell’s new film project comes complete with a huge built-in following. That’s because next on his slate is the big-screen adaptation of the beloved worldwide best selling novel, “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” by Jonas Jonasson.

The book which has sold over 10 million copies, features a man who sneaks out of his nursing home facility on his 100th birthday and goes on an adventure that bring both his past and his present together. According to a Hollywood Reporter exclusive, Will Ferrell will play title character whose his life, we find out, has intersected with historic figures like Joseph Stalin, Sir Winston Churchill and French President Charles de Gaulle.

Ferrell will be behind the camera as well, as a producer along with his Gary Sanchez Productions cohorts, Adam McKay and Jessica Elbaum. Writing the adapted screenplay will be Jason George, best known as a producer on the Netflix drama, Narcos and as a writer on NBC’s The Blacklist.

The author of “The 100 Year-Old Man“, Jonas Jonasson, couldn’t be happier about Will Ferrell bringing his literary creation to life. He said, “My character, Allan, knows the art of being funny just by being. That is something Will Ferrell masters to perfection. Great humor with small measurements. I am happy that Allan is now in his hands.” Jonasson’s book has been described as a more darkly comedic Forrest Gump.

There is no time table set yet on when “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” will go into production with Will Ferrell. Also, there’s been no mention of which Hollywood makeup artist will be brought on to transform Will Ferrell into “The 100 Year-Old Man“.
