‘White Famous” Pilot Available Ahead of Schedule, Check it Out!

We haven’t heard much from former Saturday Night Live star Jay Pharoah in awhile, other than the fact that he was slated to star in the new Showtime sitcom White Famous. News on that front, however, has also been seriously limited. Now though, it looks like we’re finally going to get a little taste of the show, and ahead of schedule at that.

As of Friday, September 29, Showtime is allowing interested fans to grab an early peek at White Famous by posting the full series premiere episode on YouTube, SHO.com, Showtime.com, multiple streaming providers, and really anywhere television is found. The series is set to make its official premiere on Showtime with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, October 15th at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, directly after Ray Donovan.

The show, for the uninitiated, was created and written by Tom Kapinos, with Jamie Foxx serving as executive producer. The show is supposed to be loosely based on Foxx’s experiences. In the pilot, we will meet Floyd Mooney (Pharoah), a young comic who finds his fame steadily rising, bringing him to a level of “white famous” i.e. famous to the point of recognizability in mainstream white America, which he’s not totally comfortable with experiencing. As Floyd struggles with his newfound fame, he has to deal with the competing voices around him, who include his agent Malcolm (Utkarsh Ambudkar), his ex-girlfriend/baby mama Sadie (Cleopatra Coleman), and Ron Balls (Jacob Ming-Trent), his roommate and voice of reason.
