We cover the country, but New York's our home, so it's an exciting week when the New York Comedy Festival comes around. It's unlike any other festival in the country. It's gigantic, but it's also decidedly unfestival-like because it's spread out through the entire city without a central focal point. Any week of the year there is a massive festival-worthy list of great comedy happening in New York City so by the time you add in a few extra headlining events, what you really have is a gigantic list of impossible choices and tough decisions.

Larry Wilmore's Nightly Show premiered last night. The early reviews are solid, although the consensus seems to be that the show could use a few more laughs, and twitter seemed to like the vibe.
Larry Wilmore has the auspicious job of being the new guy in Stephen Colbert's old time slot. The new show, The Nightly Show, starts on Monday, and last night Larry went on the Jimmy Kimmel show to talk about it. He told Kimmel the initial idea for the show was called "The Minority Reporter" but then FOX picked up a show based on the movie "The Minority Report" and it was just too much trouble.
We're just days away from the series finale of The Colbert Report, and as Comedy Central prepares to say goodbye to Stephen Colbert, they're already premiering the first clip of The Nightly Show which will start on January 19th with Larry Wilmore at the helm.
