T.J. Miller and His Wife Deny Allegations That He Sexually Assaulted a Woman

T.J. Miller has been accused of shaking, choking, sexually assaulting a woman and punching her in the mouth during sex while in college at George Washington University. In a statement made to The Daily Beast, Miller and his wife Kate claim they were victims of a former girlfriend who began circulating rumors once she found out that Miller and his current wife were dating. “Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again,” the Millers wrote. “It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators.”

The Millers also told Variety that they met his accuser over ten years ago while in college. “She attempted to break us up back then by plotting for over a year before making contradictory claims and accusations,” wrote the Millers. “She attempted to discredit both of our voices and use us against one another by trying to portray Kate to be a continuous abuse victim of T.J. (further efforts to hurt the two of us).” And released their full joint statement on instagram.

The Daily Beast printed the accusations from the woman who asked to remain anonymous because she feared reprisals for telling her story. In his statement responding to the allegations, Miller addressed her as “Sarah.” The story, like many others making headlines (i.e. Cosby, Louis C.K.), has been “buzzed about” by those in the industry according to TDB for years but never addressed as a news item until now. Others who were students at the time of the alleged incident have corroborated the story, according to The Beast, or at least corroborated that Sarah had told them about the incidents at the time they allegedly occurred, and that she did in fact have injuries consistent with her story.

Miller’s accuser details two incidents, and admits to being drunk enough to have hazy recollection of the first alleged incident, which left her with a fractured tooth and bloody lip. She says that the next day when she asked Miller about the prior evening he blamed her injuries on a drunken fall. They continued to see each other but she alleged that he became violent again during what she refers to as a “five hour ordeal” and says she was paralyzed when Miller attempted to choke her during what started out as consensual sex. She claims she was anally penetrated without consent, and that he used a bottle sexually, again without her consent. The incident was addressed in George Washington University’s student court, with testimony from Sarah’s friends, and although the University told her the issue was resolved, she was not aware of what was done to resolve it.
