Comedian Pete Holmes will have his first hour special with the network debut on December 3rd. Called Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds, the performance will be the comic’s third television special to date. It was filmed at Chicago’s Vic Theatre this past April.

HBO promises that Holmes is in peak shape for this special. Holmes is known for his quirkiness and his ability to find the hilarious in any topic, be it political or embarrassingly personal. In that regard, Holmes brings his A-game in this new performance. Holmes’ high-energy act touches on everything from the ridiculousness of nightmares and the keys to happiness to what to wear on a flight and the silliness of modern pornography. Holmes is a bright guy who is just as funny when waxing philosophical as he is when musing on eating candy as an adult, so this special promises to be a must-see.

Holmes has certainly had plenty of outlets through which to hone his craft. He hosts a popular podcast called You Made It Weird, and is the creator and star of the upcoming HBO series Crashing, based on the life of a comic who has to reconsider his career choice. He previously created and starred in TBS’s late-night talk show The Pete Holmes Show, provided his voice to animated comedies like Ugly Americans and Fantasy Hospital, and performed stand-up on shows like Conan and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon various times.

Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds premieres on HBO on Saturday, December 3rd at 10 p.m. and will be available across all HBO platforms.
