Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of November 5, 2018

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week is the mid-term elections which will be the focus of a lot of the comedy that the late night shows will be offering leading up to, on and after Tuesday’s voting. Will we get the anticipated Blue Wave across the country or will we remain in Trump’s national Red Tide? We find out Tuesday night and to help bring some laughter to America’s political fate, some our late night hosts are going live on Election Night.

Starting at 11pm et on Tuesday evening, the Daily Show with Trevor Noah will be live on Comedy Central to cover the results will be in so far and then at 11:30pm et, both Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel will be going live with their shows, the Late Show on CBS and Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC respectively, with Election Night comedy and then at 12:30am et, over at NBC, Seth Meyers is live with Late Night. Of course, by going on last, Seth will have the most election results for his writers to start scrambling to create immediate comedy with on late Tuesday night going into Wednesday morning.

No guests have been announced yet to sit down Jimmy Kimmel on Election Night, but Stephen Colbert will have Hasan Minhaj from the political comedy series “Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj” on Netflix as his guest and Seth Meyers will be assisted by Billy Eichner who we’re sure will be able to contain either his excitement or disappointment on Election Night.

Here’s another programming note for Election Night. While his competitors are working extra hard for their viewers on Election Night, there will be no Tonight Show airing on Tuesday. Jimmy Fallon is pre-empted on NBC for the network’s news coverage of the mid-terms, which probably suits him fine because if there’s anything that scares Jimmy Fallon more than when wild animals are booked on the Tonight Show, it’s talking politics.

Here’s some more highlights for this week in late night comedy.

Monday, Jimmy Kimmel welcomes Sebastian Maniscalco back to JKL. Sebastian just announced the dates for the 2019 leg of his “Stay Hungry” tour. He is going to be everywhere! If you want to see if “everywhere” includes where you live, check out all the dates on Sebastian’s Twitter page @SebastianComedy.

On Wednesday, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel will keep the political chat going. Kimmel has comedian-turned-super conservative-comedian Dennis Miller on JKL to talk about the election aftermath and Colbert welcomes the best canine comedy correspondent working today, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog on the Late Show.

Late night on Thursday brings us one of today’s rising comedy stars and a comedy legend. One of our favorites, Bridget Everett who always steals the show, returns as Jimmy Fallon’s guest on the Tonight Show while Stephen Colbert offers a seat on the guest couch to comedy icon Billy Crystal. Then on Friday, Bill Maher welcomes one of his favorite guests, Sarah Silverman, back to Real Time on HBO. Then on Saturday, we end the week with a brand new Saturday Night Live hosted by Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” Liev Schreiber.

Here’s hoping you have plenty of late nights this week. And if you’re reading this by Tuesday, Go Vote!!!
