Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of June 18, 2018

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

All through the summer, we’ll keep you updated on which late night talk show hosts will be on vacation week to week. And we’re pleased to report that only one of the late night comedians will be taking this week off. Conan O’Brien will be off all this week, but he’s left some great repeat episodes filled with appearances and performances from top comedians for the Team Coco fans to enjoy over again. Conan‘s encore guests this week include Jimmy Pardo (Monday), one of our favorite stand ups working today Sebastian Maniscalco (Tuesday), Dylan Moran, Rachel Feinstein (both on Wednesday) and Bill Hader (Thursday).

This week’s highlights start with comedy legend Louie Anderson appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday. Louie’s latest “Louie Anderson Live” tour starts in July and goes into the fall with stops in Virginia, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Florida, Wisconsin and New York. The Primetime Emmy Award nominations are about a month away from being announced and Louie Anderson has to be considered a favorite for another nomination for his role of Christine Baskets on the FX series “Baskets” starring Zach Galifianakis where Mother Baskets’ role was expanded even more in season 3. The series has been picked up for a fourth season, which isn’t expected to premiere until some time in 2019.

Tuesday, watch for the two best current guests in late night making their way to Jimmy Kimmel Live. Steve Martin and Martin Short will be on JKL and their appearances on any late night show have become must-see events. The two are still on tour this summer with their two-man show which has been turned into the Netflix comedy special currently streaming called, “Steve Martin and Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life.”

In a Tuesday non-comedy highlight, we have an interesting booking on the Tonight Show when guests include David and Lauren Hogg, a brother and sister, who were students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida who survived the school shooting massacre that happened there this past February. The siblings have a book available on Tuesday as well called “#NeverAgain,” which discusses the nationwide anti-gun violence protest that they helped found known as the “#NeverAgain Movement.” Jimmy Fallon usually steers away from such dark and politically charged subject matter on the Tonight Show, so it will be interesting to see how the host. who usually avoids such topics, outside of a few quick comments, handles this interview. Fallon does however has a special connection to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.Earlier this month, the Tonight Show host gave the commencement address at the high school at a ceremony where 4 of the 17 people murdered by the gunman would have been graduating.

Wednesday, we can see the Tonight Show get a little less serious and hopefully a lot more gossipy. One of Jimmy Fallon’s guests on Wednesday night will be Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson. Although SNL is on summer hiatus, Davidson has still made headlines with what seems to be a whirlwind romance and now engagement to popular pop star Ariana Grande. Let’s see how much gets dished when Pete Davidson sits on the Tonight Show couch this week.

On Thursday, James Corden has a Late Late Show that would make any Grammy Awards show envious. His non-comedy guests include both Sir Paul McCartney and the Foo Fighters. Apparently when Corden hosted the Grammys in February, his booker was passing around business cards.

Also on Thursday, we’ll have a comedian getting seriously funny when Cameron Esposito visits The Opposition with Jordan Klepper on Comedy Central. Cameron will be talking about her new special, “Cameron Esposito: Rape Jokes.” The new comedy hour is unique not only in its subject matter being sexual assault, but also by how it was produced and made available. It’s currently available on Vulture.com and you can read how Cameron Esposito created a comedy special in a whole new way here on The Interrobang. Also, with Cameron will be one of the final guests on The Opposition, you can read our report on the show’s cancellation and what’s next for Jordan Klepper.
