Judd Apatow Doesn’t Want Movies on Speed

After stories circulated this week that Netflix might offer a feature that allows viewers to watch content at a sped up rate, Judd Apatow had some harsh words for the platform.

“Don’t fuck with our timing,” Apatow tweeted on Monday. The comedy director and producer said if Netflix doesn’t back down, he will call every director and show creator on earth to fight the move, and he will win. “We give you nice things,” he wrote. “Leave them as they were intended to be seen.”

The overwhelming majority argued with the comedy super-producer, telling him it’s the consumer’s choice, and if that’s what consumer’s want, fighting it is a losing battle. Many pointed out that the technology is already available, and felt that Judd chose a poor hill to battle over.

A few backed the sentiment including Roseanna Arquette who cried, “Oh no this is horrendous for filmmakers and Patricia Arquette who echoed with “Oh hell no.”

The lesson here is, always check with your kids before vowing to squash anything in 2019.
