Harrison Greenbaum Performs Stand Up on America’s Got Talent

On Tuesday night, it took Harrison Greenbaum just 70 seconds to move closer to the $1 million grand prize on America’s Got Talent. The New York comedian had a short window to convince the judges to move him on to the next round and with a killer set and a likable personality, Harrison was able to do that.

Harrison won half the battle right away when he walked out on the AGT stage to introduce himself to the judges and the audience and won them over talking about his work ethic. He explained that he does between 600 to 700 shows a year working in NYC. He told judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell, “I’ve been doing shows in pizzerias and basements and having beer bottles thrown at my head…so, this is very nice,” referring to the grand America’s Got Talent main stage. He added, “This is the big moment. This is the make or break for sure.”

Once he started his set, Harrison Greenbaum went right to work. He talked about how he decided after graduating from Harvard that he wanted to be a comedian. He had to explain this to his parents right after they had footed the bill for an Ivy League education. When he told them that they needed them to sit down for a difficult conversation, they naturally assumed he was going to tell them that he is gay. They weren’t expecting him to come out as a comedian.

Harrison Greenbaum had the line of the night while explaining that people quite often mistake him for being gay. While looking directly at Simon Cowell, he said, “You know what I’m talking about. Right, same boat?” The audience and judges including Simon loved it. Following the show biz rule of always leaving them wanting more, the panel was disappointed when Harrison wrapped his quick 70 second set, which earned him a standing ovation. Harrison moved on to the next round of AGT with a unanimous, four “Yes” votes. Harrison Greenbaum has appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Gotham Comedy Live on AXS.TV. He’s also been named one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch,” plus he won the Andy Kaufman Award in 2010.
