Gina Brillon: Seven Selfies
It’s a selfie world, and we’re not going to fight it anymore. So our series, Seven Selfies, asks an artist to share seven photos of themselves, taken by themselves, to share their life. We’ve already featured Danny Lobell, Pete Dominick, Blair Socci, Doug Smith & Matt Wayne, Kurt Braunohler & Lauren Cook, Amanda Duarte, Aunty Donna, Emma Willman, Kate Willett and Ian Fidance! For our ninth edition of Seven Selfies, we’re excited to feature Gina Brillon!
Born and raised in the boogie down Bronx, Gina Brillon has been a standup comic since she was 17. She will be on tour with Gabriel Iglesias in 2019 for the “Beyond Fluffy World Tour.” Iglesias has been a gigantic supporter of Gina’s career. He produced her first one hour special, and she had a featured role in his theatrical film, The Fluffy Movie. 2019 will also see the launch of podcast “Tough Love with Gina Brillon” on itunes. She’s made appearances on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, E!’s Chelsea Lately, AXS’ Gotham Comedy Live, The View, and is the first (and only) Latina winner of NBC’s 2012 Stand up for Diversity Showcase and is a proud alum of the Just for Laughs New Faces showcase. Gina sells more tickets as a headliner within the Improv Comedy Club chain than any new artist and is also an accomplished singer, published writer, and poet. Her newest stand up special, “Entre Nos: A Stand-up Comedy Special” is available on HBO Now, HBO GO and HBO on Demand in English.

#1 Good Morning world! First thing in the AM is brushing my teeth. I hate stank breath and morning breath is the worst. Stay fresh kids.

#2. Next is ferret playtime. It is impossible to get them still for a picture. I have two ferrets “Kodo” and “Podo” (Pictured is Podo). Ferrets need a lot of playtime but they also need lots of rest, yes they have a musky smell that I somehow tolerate.

#4 Headed into Manhattan, NY for a meeting about my upcoming podcast, Tough Love With Gina Brillon. I’ve been a subway brat for as long as I can remember. I’m born and raised in the Bronx, NY and have been on buses and trains since I was a kid.

#5 I was waiting in the cafeteria area, trying not to look lost. Personality spoiler alert, I have a lot of social anxiety, most people would not guess that. If I’m not around people I know or if I’m alone in a crowed place I usually have my headphones on to help keep me calm.

#6 At Dunwell doughnuts in the LES! Believe it or not this vegan doughnut place is amazing!!!! And she threw in some extra doughnuts for me! I have such a sweet tooth.

7. At the end of the night I was finally able to watch my set on TruTV’s Laff Tracks. I’ve been fortunate enough to do a lot of TV work, but it’s still hard for me to watch myself, I’m so critical.
