First Look At “The Carmichael Show” On NBC

The Carmichael Show - Season 1

NBC has put out the first trailer for “The Carmichael Show” starring Jerrod Carmichael. The new prime time sitcom was created by Jerrod Carmichael, based on his stand up, and Nicholas Stoller who directed “Neighbors”, “Get Him To The Greek” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. In the new promo, it’s clear that “The Carmichael Show” is all based on the dysfunctional family dynamic.

Jerrod’s dad played by David Alan Grier, has an opinion on every thing. Loretta Devine is Jerrod’s TV mother who also has plenty of opinions. Actually they’re God’s opinions and she just voices them. Then there’s Jerrod Carmichael’s con man brother on the show portrayed by Lil Rel Howery who takes every opportunity to deflect the family’s attention off himself and on to Jerrod. Rounding out the cast is Amber West who plays Maxine, Jerrod’s live-in girlfriend who is studying to be a therapist and thinks honesty is the answer to every situation. That’s not going to be the best strategy with the Carmichael family.

“The Carmichael Show” premieres Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30pm et, right after “Mr. Robinson” starring Craig Robinson on NBC.
